We had the delight of speaking with Jessica about her passions, achievements, and the exciting future ahead.
Q: Jessica, with 19 years of experience under your belt, what continues to drive your passion in esthetics?
A: It’s the transformations I see and the sighs of relief I hear. Every time a client looks in the mirror and truly feels at peace with their skin, it reminds me why I started on this path. It’s not just about beauty; it’s about wellness, confidence, and empowering people to feel their best.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your holistic approach to skincare?
A: Absolutely. True skincare transcends what you apply externally. It’s deeply connected to our overall well-being. Inside-out wellness, if you will. From nutrition and hydration to stress management and sleep — all aspects of our lives affect our skin. That’s why I’m passionate about holistic practices that nurture our body and, consequently, our skin.
Q: What inspired you to start the Esthetic Academy, and what goals do you foresee for its future?
A: I noticed a gap in our industry when it comes to education that bridges cutting-edge techniques with a holistic understanding of skin health. The Esthetic Academy is my way of passing on the wisdom of my experience while innovating and elevating the level of education in the field. I’m committed to creating a curriculum that equips aspiring estheticians with not just skills but a comprehensive approach to wellness.
Q: As an accomplished professional winning the Top Spa award and launching the Esthetic Academy, what advice do you have for entrepreneurs starting their businesses?
A: Research and connect. Know your market inside out, and understand what they are truly looking for. But even more importantly, build genuine relationships. When you care for your clients, listen to them, and meet their needs, you do more than just business — you build a community. And in any business, especially in the service industry like ours, that community is the foundation of success.
Q: How do you balance your demanding career with your personal life, especially as a military wife and mother?
A: It’s like a carefully choreographed dance — sometimes a lively salsa, other times a delicate ballet. Being a military wife has taught me resilience and flexibility, while motherhood has molded my time management skills. It’s all about prioritizing, and at the end of the day, making sure to find some time for what you love, which for my husband and I, happens to be a good, competitive game of pickleball.
